Approximately 20 mock trial teams from colleges and universities from  the eastern part of the US. Among the colleges expected to participate are Yale, Cornell, Trinity, Holy Cross, Villanova, Wellesley and the US Military Academy. Six teams from the region will advance to the national semifinals, which will lead to the National Championships scheduled to take place in Philadelphia April 5-7.

The competition needs between 24 and 36 judges for each round. A judge may sit for just one round or up to four, depending on each judge's own schedule. A minimum of two and a maximum of three judges sit and score each trial.  There will be 10-12 trials per round. The winning teams are selected based on total performance over the four rounds. The quality of the participants is extraordinarily high. Judges are provided both breakfast and lunch, as well as parking on site.
