US Supreme Court Admissions Trip

The Middlesex County Bar Association is sponsoring a group admission ceremony before the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C., for members of the Association on Monday morning, June 1, 2020.

Participation is limited to 25 bar members!  We expect to reach our limit very quickly.  Therefore, you must send an email to or call the Bar Office at (732) 828-3433, ext. 102 to confirm your intention to participate in the ceremony in order to be included with our group. 

Details on the process are as follows:

Admission to the US Supreme Court requires an attorney to be in good standing with the Supreme Court of his or her state, to be in practice for three years or more, and to obtain the signature of two sponsors who are US Supreme Court Bar Members.

Each applicant shall submit

(1)    a certificate of good standing from the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts, and

(2)    a completely executed copy of the US Supreme Court application containing

(a)    the applicant's personal statement (the application and certificate of good standing serve as your personal statement), and

(b)   the signature of two sponsors endorsing the correctness of the applicant's statement, stating that the applicant possesses all the qualifications required for admission, and affirming that the applicant is of good moral and professional character. Both sponsors must be members of the Bar of the Supreme Court who personally know, but are not related to, the applicant.

Each participant will be responsible for making his or her own travel arrangements and hotel accommodations, and is allowed to bring one guest into the Supreme Court to witness the swearing-in (children under the age of 6 are not admitted into the courtroom).

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Phoenix Park Hotel, ½ mile from the Supreme Court and will provide further details once our group of 25 is confirmed.

In order to participate all materials must be sent to: Middlesex County Bar Association, 87 Bayard Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. A complete packet includes the following:

  • completed US Supreme Court application;
  • certificate of good standing from the Supreme Court of New Jersey; and
  • $350 registration fee (check made payable to "MCBA”).*

* The registration fee covers the cost of US Supreme Court application plus a cocktail reception on Sunday, May 31st from 5:00p-6:30p at the Dubliner in the Phoenix Park Hotel and breakfast at the US Supreme Court on Monday morning, June 1st, prior to the swearing in ceremony.  Payment is not required until we start collecting the required materials in early 2020.
