This seminar will focus on the following issues:

  • Principles and practices pertaining to psychological evaluations in personal injury (PI) cases
  • Review of the foundation of forensic mental health assessment
  • Conducting PI evaluations consistent with the five-state model set forth by Goodman-Delahunty and Foote (2011)
    • Client's psychological functioning prior to, during and after the PI event(s)
  • Overview of the types of psychological tests frequently used and the psychiatric disorders typically seen in PI cases
  • Considerations for working with psychologists and psychiatrists
    • Implications for the direct and cross-examination experts

This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 2.0 hours of total CLE credit. Of these, 2.0 qualify as hours of credit towards certification in civil trial law.
